Propper®

In 1967, William S. Propper founded Propper International and landed his first government contract with the U.S. Navy, manufacturing the iconic white sailor caps known as "Dixie cups." Since then, Propper has supplied over 160 million garments to the U.S. Department of Defense — more than any other manufacturer. Today, Propper manufactures wildland firefighter uniforms that meet NFPA standards and are sewn to military specifications. Handcrews, Hotshots, Smokejumpers, and all wildland firefighters deserve respect for their courage and work ethic under grueling conditions — they also deserve firefighter uniforms with the utmost comfort and function.

  • NFPA 1977 Certified

Propper wildland pants and shirts are UL certified to NFPA® 1977 (Standard on Protective Clothing and Equipment for Wildland Fire Fighting). All wildland garments are certified for use by the USDA Forest Service.

  • Inherent FR Protection

Made with Nomex®, Kevlar®, and Tecasafe® fabrics — inherently flame-resistant materials that will never wash out or wear off. Unlike treated fabrics, the FR protection is built into the fiber itself and lasts the life of the garment.

  • Military-Spec Construction

As the leading supplier to the U.S. Department of Defense for over 58 years, Propper brings military-grade construction standards to wildland firefighter apparel. Bar-tack reinforcement at stress points ensures durability in the field.

  • Comfort & Mobility

Pleated knees and elbows for freedom of movement across rough terrain. Advanced moisture management technology helps keep you cooler during intense conditions. Lightweight fabrics reduce heat stress burden.
