The Mystery Ranch Fire Pack Lineup
Every pack Mystery Ranch builds for wildland fire is designed around a specific operational role. From extended hand crew deployments to fast initial attack, modular engine assignments, and international operations — there's a system built for the job.
Crew Packs — Hotshot Line
-
Hotshot INTL
The flagship wildland fire pack. Full zip-load access, patented Futura yoke system, HDPE and fiberglass internal frame, and wing pockets sized for fuel bottles and canteens. Built for hotshot crews, hand crews, and anyone carrying 50+ lbs for days on end.
-
Hotshot TL INTL
The top-load version of the Hotshot. Same framing, same load-bearing performance, with a draw-cord shroud for maximum volume and extreme overloads. The go-to for crews that prefer top-load access and need a pack that handles everything from engine assignments to extended hand crew shifts.
Modular System — Shift Line
-
Shift 900 MWP
Mystery Ranch's most modular fire pack. The removable MOLLE wing pockets expand capacity from 16 to 20 litres, and the colour-coded Triple-Spade system lets you swap configurations in seconds. Built for engine companies, helitack, and hand crews who need a system that adapts to the assignment.
-
Plus REM
The modular extension for the Shift system. Attaches to the Shift frame's operational load shelf, adding capacity for extended deployments without replacing your base pack. Two packs in one — strip it down for initial attack, build it up for multi-day assignments.
International & SAR
-
SC 34
Developed with B.C. Wildfire Service for international wildland personnel who don't carry a fire shelter, and USAR teams that need a 72-hour solution. Shift-system compatible with a larger main compartment and full modular capability.
-
SC Frame
The standalone frame system built alongside the SC 34. Removable Fire Stick-It, Shift-system compatibility, and a load shelf that supports hose packs, modules, and heavy equipment. The foundation for building out a complete international or SAR pack system.
Travel & Deployment Bags
-
Monster
The 14-day deployment duffel. Built to survive baggage handlers, truck beds, and fire camps.
-
Big Ernie / Big Ernie 2.0
Mid-sized gear hauler for assignments where the Monster is overkill but a daypack won't cut it.
-
Rip Ruck 32
32L everyday pack with quick-access Rip-Zip panel. Same Mystery Ranch durability for travel, commutes, and off-duty carry.
-
Blitz 35
Tactical 35L pack built for extended operations and multi-day carry. Structured and load-bearing for heavier assignments.
Mystery Ranch Engineering
-
Patented Futura Yoke
Telescopically adjusts to any torso length. Aircraft-grade 7075 aluminium stay is pre-curved to match the contour of the upper back, with HDPE and fiberglass framing that distributes 50+ lbs through the hips and core.
-
500D & 1000D CORDURA®
Custom spec'd CORDURA® fabric with DWR and PU coatings for maximum durability, UV protection, and weather resistance. AQUAGUARD® coated YKK® #10 zippers with nickel-plated sliders built to last through seasons of abuse.
-
Modular Fire Architecture
The Triple-Spade system, MOLLE attachment points, and operational load shelf let you strip a pack down for initial attack or build it up for multi-day assignments. One platform, multiple configurations.

Applications
-
Hotshot & Hand Crews
The Hotshot pack was designed for and tested by hotshot crews carrying 50+ lbs through extended operational periods. It's the standard for hand crews cutting line, managing burnouts, and working multi-day assignments across Canada and the U.S.
-
Engine & Helitack
The Shift modular system was built for engine companies and helitack crews who need a pack that adapts to the assignment. Strip it for initial attack, build it out for extended operations — one system for every role on the call.
-
International & SAR
The SC system was developed with B.C. Wildfire Service for international wildland personnel and USAR teams. No fire shelter requirement, 72-hour capacity, and full Shift-system compatibility for modular configurations.
-
Overhead & Support
Division supervisors, operations chiefs, and support personnel need reliable carry without the bulk of a full crew pack. Travel bags, briefcases, and compact organizers keep command staff mobile and equipped through extended incidents.
